And the storms – they came! I was enjoying the thunder and lightning but the weather radio kept me up all night – it sounds every time there is a warning and there were a lot of warnings! I slept until 8:00 and after I got moving, I had coffee and then drained the water from my soon-to-die shrubs that are hostage to the buckets. I took several branches off of my car. It’s suppose to be hot, humid and more thunderstorms today…good thing this vacation is about getting away to peace and quiet and some R&R – I certainly am not getting away to enjoy nice weather!
By 8:40 three tree trucks loaded with 5 guys, pulled into the drive.

By 10:15 two trees were down.

By 11:00 the chipping was done and the third tree was down. By 2:30 they were long gone, my car was back in the driveway and many photos were snapped. They removed the brush from the easement and cut up the tree that was left behind. The two-foot woodpecker seemed to know that the tree he stashed all his seed in was going to be cut tomorrow and acted as though he was trying to recoup his stash!

I booted up, gloved up and got out the wheel barrel. It took me three trips to move six logs. I am not strong and cannot maneuver a wheel barrel very well! I guess it was lucky for me that the skies turned black and the rain started. By the time I got back inside, the trees were blowing in the wind and the rain was falling by bucket loads.
As I end my day, I think of the irony of my cabin being in a flood zone and flood free and worry that my basement back at home is filled with water and is not in a flood zone. This is news that will need to wait until Carlo can check on it in the morning. The outcome will determine how I spend the rest of my vacation.
