I was on my way by 6:30 – it took me a half an hour to get to 1st Avenue, but once the train cleared, it was smooth travels. I stopped in DeKalb for a few minutes then not again until I got to Pierce’s which was around 10:30 – after gassing up. Overall, I made good time – even going the longer route. On the way down the road to the cabin I saw two groups of deer – first group consisted of four and a little further on there was the second group of two. It’s amazing how they can leap over a fence from a standing position! As I continued on I wasn’t hearing any chainsaws – which meant they were either done…or not there. Of course, not there. Why can’t people just communicate?! The river is sort of high and everything is soaked and considering all the rain, I know that’s why the trees weren’t cut – but now they’re over a week late!
Upon my arrival up the porch, it was obvious our means of blocking the roof opening might not be working – or maybe it is – but something chewed away the wood and the screen – looks like from the outside – not sure if access was gained or not! A big hmmmm!

In the back the hummingbird feeder was, again, knocked to the ground, my flower box flowers were all over, and they’re not even real! The suet is gone, of course and the shovel is knocked over….what gives??? I opened the windows, started the water, put the groceries away, had lunch and got situated for my afternoon television ritual.
Since I was exhausted and there was a monsoon outside – I actually slept most of the afternoon. I awoke to flooded flower beds, a flooded drive, a turkey "bobby for seed" and some strange looking bug on the rail.

I went to bed around 6:00 when the television stopped getting reception!
