Father’s Day – I can hardly believe it was just three years ago that my dad and I spent Father’s Day weekend at O’Wich. We had a great trip and we went out for a great rib dinner, because he didn’t want me to cook! Happy Father’s Day Dad – Wish you were here!
Father's Day 2007

Ahhh, the 6:00 am sounds of O’Wich…the birds, the chipmunks, the crackling of the branches! Why can’t every morning be so peaceful?
The front porch and stairs look nice with the stain, but I think it should get a second coat – rain is predicted for every day but Thursday – looks like it’ll have to wait until the fall! Other chores are now coming to light since all the storms and abundance of rain; such as the number of branches that are all over and the height of the grass that hasn’t been cut the last couple of visits. As I cleaned up the fallen debris, I was watching the squirrels and chipmunks. I have now determined that squirrels are pigs and that chipmunks can fly!
I spent the rest of the morning hours in town. I hit Kmart, Wal-Mart and Walgreens - the three just seem to go together; like a bizarre word game. When I got back, I sprayed some ant repellent. It’s pretty humid, so I hope to just enjoy the afternoon – the sun is fighting to come out and rain is (again) expected!
The weather fooled me today. The sun came out around 4:00 so I went out to pick up more twigs and branches…this continues to be a never ending chore. I ventured down to the river to look over all the tree damage. The park was overgrown but I could still envision a gazebo and three-hole golf course!

And even with all the damage and debris, there were still things of beauty that could be found!

At 10:15 I heard a noise on the back deck to find that damn raccoon helping himself to the bird seed. He stayed there about ten minutes and even with my attempting to snap his picture he didn’t budge until he was done with his feeding frenzy.

Another relaxing and great day has come to an end!
