April 10 through April 12, 2014

I have had an incredulous 47 1/2 hours- Thursday morning I left work at 4:30 am and was back at home on Saturday morning at 4:00 am - this is what happened...

Thursday:
I stopped for a few groceries to feed the crew for lunch. They were already at the cabin when I got there and helped with unloading groceries, my stuff, paint and supplies. I got to see everything in person and it looks great!

Toward the kitchen...soon to have a short wall so you won't see the fridge
Looking into the kitchen area - soon to change!

Good-bye old smelly carpet
Boxes of new flooring - 25 boxes to be exact!

No siding...yet

We do have a light - no siding - but a light

The siding was suppose to go up but when they opened the boxes the wrong color was inside...after waiting two weeks for beige siding, gray came in. Looks like it will be another two weeks! They left to take care of the siding issue, without lunch! I spent the entire rest of the day cleaning all the construction dust and mess in e-v-e-r-y inch of space.
After I rested in the chair for a bit or in other words, for a short nap, I got up and went to bed. The painting has been postponed to tomorrow since the cleaning was not on the to-do list!

Friday:
The water in inching closer to the cabin. There was a family of ducks cavorting in the back yard by the swing...yet in the river. Of course this means the river was in my yard because it was over the bank and at about 16' - and yep, it's still rising according to the weather chart.

Good thing the driveway is higher!

Construction mess and rising river

I put two coats of primer on the walls and followed them with a short break and then tow coats of my Fluffy Biscuit base coat. Can't do the faux finish for 24-hours.

Faux finish will have to wait

I decided to box up the kitchen stuff to get a head start on Monday and discussed with Carlo on whether he should even bother to make the trip on Saturday due to the rising water levels. I decided to pack up my stuff just in case.

Kitchen stuff

I  heard a knock at the door and did not see any car in the drive. It ended up being our new neighbors, Jimmy and Becky who were at their property evaluating their plan. Seems their uncle gave the property to them as a wedding gift...I would have preferred a candle holder! Seems I finally met someone with bigger pipe dreams than mine!!!

And there goes the fire pit...and maybe everything in it and around it!

I was thinking that the need for me to leave was nearing. I texted Carlo and said I was leaving in the morning. He called shortly thereafter and when I checked the driveway was starting to cover with water. Since I couldn't fall back asleep, I decided to finish up moving stuff on the inside and pack the truck.

Saturday:
It was just past midnight and I started to get a bit freaked out - enough to have a panic attack! I don't know how things got done or how I even moved so quickly, but the adrenaline kicked in and before I knew it I was pulling out of the drive. There was over an inch of deep water at the base of the stairs and the road from the T to the pines was like a lake. Similar to the time last summer when we also needed to evacuate! I was so frightened driving through the water but kept going and didn't stop to the mailboxes when I had a happier melt down! I drove into town for gas and pulled up to my house at 4:00 am.

Looks like Mother Nature got me again - evacuation seems to be common lingo lately.
Like I said, an incredulous 47 1/2 hours!
