At first, I thought the deer were dogs!
Hard to believe this is my last vacation Monday and a chance to be here for a full Monday! Temps are expected to be DANGEROUSLY HOT, HEAT ADVISORY NOON – 8 PM, H: 98 HEAT INDEX: 100 – 105 DEGREES. TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY, SULTRY, L: 77 – YIKES!
There were lots of turkeys down by the river. They were huge. One was in his full plumage strutting himself around for all the others! I hope my trigger happy neighbors don’t see them or any of the deer, if you know what I mean! Suppertime!
Garry and Bernie arrived at 9:00. The morning consisted of removing railings, sinking 4x4’s, sawing the eave, removing the gutter and lunch. While they were busy doing all of that, I was staining the boards that will become the rafters. I also broke with them for lunch, but I stained from 9:30 until 5:30 at which time I had to go buy more stain. It was the hottest day of the year and they stopped working at 2:30. Luckily I was in some shade. I stained a total of 30 boards of various lengths from 8 foot to 16. At the time I was doing it, the chore itself totally sucked, but I’ll be glad once they’re installed…then it’ll be just a little touch up and a minimal amount of time on the ladder!

After I picked up the stain - yesssss, more stain, I stopped for dessert although I hadn’t had dinner yet. C’mon, it’s vacation…there are no rules as to what order to eat your meals vs. treats in. On my way to visit with Betty and Steve I saw a deer on the side of the road.
Then on my way back I stopped at Carla’s for a quick visit. I got back around 8:45 and took a much needed shower before enjoying some leftover steak. By 10:30 I was done and in bed and hoping it takes a long time before I have to wake up – Garry and Bernie are supposed to be back at 7:30 – that’s early!
